In 1973 I came in contact with the manufacturing of advertising memo cubes. These were the first of their kind in the United States. The printed logos were placed on the sides of the memo pad. I received a contract to market the product. Because of my earlier efforts, I was well acquainted with the leading direct mail magazine in the country.
I formed a company called AD-PAD PROMOTIONS and over the next two years made prototype AD-PADS for some of the largest companies in the United States. Proposals for millions of dollars of product were requested by companies like GE, Mack Truck, XEROX and many others. Ultimately, the price for the units were too high because of the hand labor. Few orders were ever received and I dissolved the business.
Since that time, Germany produced a machine that could make memo cubes with color ink very inexpensively.
